Landmarks - Businesses

Raeder Place

The strong German work ethic is evident in the St. Louis landmarks that housed busy German-American manufacturing plants, restaurants and breweries.

Hard-working German-American laborers on the riverfront, skilled stonemasons building the City’s churches, and industry leaders that included Emil Mallinckrodt, the Espenschied family (wagon makers), and Adolphus Busch played an important role in the development of St. Louis’ economy.
