The congregation of this church was established in 1869 as the Carondelet Evangelical Church. Jacob Elting was among the early German settlers who co-founded the church.

It became the Carondelet United Church of Christ in 1957.

The church has stained-glass windows by St. Louis artist Emil Frei.
