Stemmler Family

Johann Georg Stemmler was born April 1825 in Nordenstadt, Hesse Nassau, Germany. He and his father, Heinrich, came to America in the late 1830s. They arrived at the port of Baltimore...and then decided to travel to Waterloo, Illinois. There were relatives in this part of Illinois and it would be easier for Heinrich to find work as a locksmith...I married Edwin H. Schmidt, M.D., and my 2nd son Stephen Schmidt, M.D., has moved to Shiloh, Ill. Perhaps he lives and works close to where his great-grandfather lived and worked when he came to the United States. |
