Johanne's descendants widely used two different spellings of the name, Nofziger and Nafziger. His oldest son, Christian adopted the Nofziger spelling while his second son, John used the Nafziger spelling...Many of the Nafzigers found in the western states, especially Missouri, Oklahoma and Oregon, are descendants of Johannes second son, John.
