This bronze statue is placed outdoors on a terrace behind the Art Museum, facing the parking lot.

Commissioned by the Museum, the dramatic and forceful Hercules was sculpted by Mathias Gasteiger (1871-1934) in Germany and installed in St. Louis in 1930.
