Interior of Mexican Pavilion

Alice Roosevelt Attended Pavilion Opening

Alice Roosevelt, daughter of the U.S. president, was one of the 2500 guests at the formal opening of the Mexican pavilion on May 28, 1904.

Mexico was one of the first countries to complete its pavilion.  This lovely pavilion's open balconies, distinctive tower, and patio were all typical of Mexican architecture.

An added treat was a large garden filled with banana trees, cacti and other plants native to Mexico.
