The 1904 Olympic games provided athletic events involving 2000 of the 'native peoples' represented at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. The competitions took place at the Stadium in mid-August.
In some of the most exciting Olympic contests Ainus, Patagonians, Eskimos, Native Americans, Philippine and African groups competed. The competitions included running, high jumping, archery and spear throwing.
The winners of these games were given American flags instead of gold medals.
